The Purpose Of The USEB

The Information Systems Examination Board (ISEB) was born in 1989, it was done so while he use and the prevalence of computers began to infiltrate business and personal use on a scale never before seen. The foundation of ISEB was the result of a collaboration between the respective IT authorities of the time, and was done so with a view to establishing and maintaining standards within the IT industry, thus creating the disciplines that would go on to serve the IT industry and the professionals that serve it.

These areas have developed into: IT Service Management/ITIL; Software Testing; Sustainable IT; Business Analysis; Systems Development; Project Management and Support; IT Governance, Information and Security; IT Assets and Infrastructure; Green IT.

ISEB is part of the Chartered Institute for IT and offers a number of software testing courses that range from the foundation level, expanding to Practitioner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. Each level teaches incremental depths and intricacies of software testing, from the fundamentals, right through to advanced methods and software test management practices. Courses involve assignment coursework and examinations involving practical and theoretical tests, and are available in over 50 countries.

ISEB offer their suite of courses via their website, which also provides supporting documentation for all courses from information on where and how to access training, course overview materials and syllabus materials. Online, you can also find examination instructions and the ISEB website even includes an interactive portal for course subjects to register their work and seek guidance from examiners.

In addition, through ISEB, the opportunity for software testers to become trainers in software testing also exists, which further widens the scope of the software testing discipline. This provides individuals with the right to teach others the different levels of software testing and with this, the ISEB mark that comes with the qualification to teach is considered as the authority in software testing.
